 ABOUT S.U.C.C.

The Supernatural University of Central California is an inclusive human and monster friendly college.S.U.C.C has been a human-friendly university since Dean Archer Wolfwood elected to open the doors to human students in 2002 after student population had dropped off significantly due to large numbers of supernatural youth electing to attend conventional human institutions instead.S.U.C.C has a longstanding, "friendly" rivalry with neighbouring institute, the California University of Magical Sciences (C.U.M.S). This rivalry initially began when S.U.C.C started accepting human students, as C.U.M.S remains a supernatural only campus.

Alongside conventional human majors, S.U.C.C offers a number of "supernatural speciality" degrees, including :

  • Supernatural/Human Relations

  • Environmental Magic

  • Alchemy

  • Cryptozoology

  • Non-Euclidean Architectural Studies

SOLARTON

College Town & Inclusive Community

S.U.C.C.'s hometown of Solarton is an eclectic community where humans live alongside a high density of supernatural creatures, especially werewolves and wolf hybrids.Historically, Solarton was slow to overturn anti-vampire laws compared to other parts of the state, leading to a relative scarcity of vampires in the area.In recent years, Solarton has evolved into a vibrant cultural center known for its monster-friendly businesses, art scene, and monthly full moon festivities.

 LOCATIONS

  Solarton High School
Many of S.U.C.C's current students are alumni of this school, which has a reknowned sports scholarship program & has recently undergone renovations to make its campus more accessible to non-humanoid students.

  Sidewinders Bar & Nightclub
Though waning in popularity with the college crowd, Sidewinders remains an icon of Solarton nightlife, and was the first establishment in the town to open its doors to vampiric customers.

  Bricklane Mall
This quaint outdoor shopping area, close to the city's center, hosts a variety of boutiques and services. Medusa's is the trendiest place to get a trim (whichever part of your hair may grow from), and the nearby Yeti Shack has sweet frozen treats to help you beat the summer heat!

  Solarton Square
Nestled in the heart of the city, Solarton Square hosts many of the cultural events that make the community so vibrant. From the Full Moon Market (popular with the town's many weres!) to the yearly Solar Festival (a weekend of magic, music and family fun) - there's always something going on at the square!

 HISTORY

Founded in the 1900s by a werewolf pack seeking to build a stable home, Solarton is best known as being one of the last holdouts of anti-vampire sentiment, despite reforms following the 1999 Nocturnal Crisis.Though early to adopt positive relationships (and eventual integration) with nearby human communities, Solarton remained predominantly populated by weres and demihumans (hence the area's extensive and well-cared for parks, forests and nature reserves) until the early 2000s, wherein S.U.C.C's decision to open its door to human students attracted numerous families of all species from across the country.Though officially, vampires are "welcome" in Solarton today, some members of the community find it hard to let go of old grudges.
Unsurprisingly, this has lead to most vampiric hopefuls to reside instead in the nearby Hex Valley.

Since becoming an integrated college in 2002, S.U.C.C has become home to a diverse and colorful student body.

 WERES & SHAPESHIFTERS

Werebeasts are one of the most prominent supernatural species in Solarton.
Weres & Shapeshifters have the ability to transform into a more bestial form; sometimes by choice, sometimes by a trigger such as the full moon.

HUMANS

Although SUCC is majority supernatural, a sizeable minority of students are human.
Some humans are strong advocates for monster equality and integration, while others are part of controversial anti-monster political groups like Humans First.Magical ability is rare but not unheard of among human students.

 DEMONS
e.g. Succubi, Incubi, Imps, Ifrits and Fiends

Demons span many different types depending on their infernal heritage—some have horns, wings, or tails, and some appear nearly human.
Due to state regulations, all demons are required to register, particularly those that feed on human beings.

 Fae
e.g. Pixies, Dryads, Elves, Nymphs, Sprites, Sidhe

Contrary to popular belief, not all fairies are dimunative (or winged!). Coming from a variety of regional backgrounds, Fae students tend to be magically gifted.

 DEMI-HUMANS

Demi-humans are a broad category encompassing many types of part-human hybrids, including those with animal or mythical creature heritage.
Common demihuman hybrids are cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, cows, reptiles, and even fantastical creatures such as dragons.Demihumans frequently have human features with animal ears, tails or wings depending on the species.
VAMPIRES

While vampires are less common in Solarton compared to other supernaturals due to the town's history of oppressive laws, a small, elite vampire community exists, known for old money and business dealings.
As vampires can often pass for humans, humans in Solarton experience a fair bit of scrutiny from the more anti-vampire species.
 UNDEAD
e.g. Zombies, Lichs, Ghosts, Ghouls, Wights
Most undead at SUCC have undergone rigorous rehabilitation to control any violent tendencies they may have had pre-reanimation.Although generally accepted at the university, they still face occasional prejudice due to societal fears around death and decay.

 HYBRIDS
e.g. Centaurs, Merfolk, Fauns, Naga

Hybrids at SUCC refer primarily to cross-species individuals.
Often requiring special accomodations due to their anatomy, hybrid students come in a variety of forms. Unlike demi-humans, hybrids are equally animal and human.

C.U.M.S

The California University of Magical Science, also known as CUMS, is SUCC's main rival, located in nearby Hex Valley.Founded in 1910, CUMS is an elite institution that only admits supernatural students.Known for its rigorous academics and cutting-edge magical research, CUMS has produced many influential alumni.Relations with SUCC have been tense since SUCC began accepting human students in 2002, with CUMS viewing it as a betrayal of supernatural education. The CUMS campus has gothic architecture and magical wards surrounding its walls that prevent humans from entering (these wards are only temporarily suspended during events or games).

Hex Valley, located 20 minutes away from Solarton, is a small but wealthy town, with several well-known vinyards, mostly owned by the area's wealthy vampiric families.Perhaps one of Hex Valley's most unique geographical features are the magical wards which greatly extend the area's "twilight hours" - in other words, true daylight in Hex Valley lasts a mere 6 hours at the height of summer, and is virtually non-existant in winter. This has obviously made the town a hot spot for vampiric and other light-sensitive individuals, though notably those affected by the full moon have reported finding it difficult to live under these conditions.

Like its rival school, C.U.M.S has extensive facilities, all of which are specialised to accomodate its supernatural student body. C.U.M.S operates on a crepuscular schedule, with most classes in the early morning or evenings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CAN I MAKE A FAN OC FOR SUCC?

ABSOLUTELY! You are more than welcome to use my lore summaries in your bots or ask me anything if you have any questions about this.Note that while fan OCs aren't required to be canon-compliant, if you would like your OC to be featured on the site (i.e in one of the clubs or sports teams) you are gently encouraged to keep the broad strokes of SUCC-U-VERSE's worldbuilding in mind! Please note that general Ioverse OC rules apply - No Minors (It's a college based off sex puns. C'mon.) and, if you create a public bot of your OC, No "Claiming" Canon Characters Romantically.

What species can SUCC students & staff be?

Honestly - just about anything. Any kind of fantasy creature will fit in great at SUCC! This includes some more esoteric options, like aliens, ghosts and trolls! This world verse is set in modern day (2024) and technology level is roughly equivelant to current tech (with some magical enhancements!) Ergo, robotic or android characters are not likely to be canon-compliant.

ArE YOU GONNA MAKE AN OC OF [INSERT NPC HERE]?

Maybe! Who knows™

Hey, I have a question about a technical aspect of the world's lore, specifically relating to geography, science and/or economics

you can say whatever is canon. im begging you please don't make me think about maths

Can I make my own magical/supernatural college/university?

Sure!! I don’t own the idea (I mean, I’m basically ripping off monster’s university myself lol) however if you’re going to copy/imitate my site design/specific lore/layout, I would appreciate being asked (or at least credited!) first! *cough cough*I do work very hard and everything I make/write is 100% done by myself (unless stated otherwise), so please respect that when lifting aspects of the SUCC-U-VERSE (or other universes) for your own work, especially in terms of lore.I am very happy to add links to your own college/university if you DM me! I am very passionate about uplifting smaller creators where I can so please feel free to get in touch. I'd love to start making an "affiliated colleges" page!! (maybe some transfer students ?!)
